Imagine yourself moving fluidly over a
vertical rock surface. Your concentration is at its peak, mind and
body moving over stone as one. The freedom and personal satisfaction
one feels when rockclimbing is very difficult to put into words. Some
describe climbing as ballet on rock.
The UCSB Adventure Programs Climbing Staff invites you to join them for the opportunity
to learn how to climb and enjoy all the excitement that rockclimbing has to offer.
We offer a comprehensive and progressive climbing program. Our series of classes
will keep you challenged as your skills improve. The number one prerequisite
for enrolling in our classes is your desire to learn.
Forget about those self imposed limitations regarding strength, gender and age.
Here
is YOUR chance to do YOUR dance on the rock.
ADVENTURE CLIMBING CENTER
Hours: 11:30am-Rec Cen Closing
Location: Rec Cen II
Fee: Requires Rec Cen
Membership or Day Pass.
The UCSB indoor climbing center is open to the public. If you haven’t
seen it then you are missing out on not only a beautiful work of art but
a fantastic and very challenging training facility.
Entre Prises USA Inc designed “the largest imprint wall on the west
coast!” The wall offers a dedicated bouldering section, 30 foot
main wall, top rope climbing, autobelays, lead bolts, belay ledge and
3 crack features. We use a wide variety of artificial holds on the wall
to keep you challenged regardless of your skill level.
The club atmosphere allows climbers to train, share techniques, exercise,
meet new friends and plan weekend outings to the rocks. This is also a
great place to discover or rediscover climbing. If you have taken a sabbatical
from the sport then here is a place to get back into the mainstream. If
you would like to take an instructional clinic, choose from a variety
of levels offered regularly.
The facility is open daily which allows for training after you get off
work or out of class. If you do not have a harness or rock shoes, you
can rent them at the climbing center.
