Coach Kathy Gregory

The sport of volleyball has been Kathy Gregory's love and passion for over 40 years. Her accomplishments as a player, coach and administrator are unequaled in the sport. Kathy began coaching at UCSB in 1975 and has guided the program to a 744-307 (.708) record. Over the years, the Gauchos have had 26 seasons in which they have won twenty or more matches. In 2004, the Gauchos won their third Big West Title, amassed an overall record of record of 24-4 and reached a high national ranking of 8 in the USA Today/CSTV Top-25 Coaches' Poll. Under Gregory's guidance, the Gauchos have advanced to post season play for 25 straight years, UCSB remains just one of four schools to qualify for all 24 NCAA Tournaments.

In addition to her coaching, Gregory dominated the sport as an athlete for more than 15 years. Kathy has provided color commentary for ESPN's broadcasts of the Women's Professional Beach Tour, where she made her mark with her popular "In the Crowd" segments. Kathy's contributions to the sport of volleyball have not gone unnoticed. Volleyball Magazine named her one of the 10 most influential people in the sport. She was also a finalist for the Women's Sports Foundation Hall of Fame, an award that recognizes outstanding contributions to the advancement of women's athletics.
